Born in Bulgaria, the pianist is a lecturer for piano at the State University of Music and the Performing Arts in Stuttgart. Along with solo performances, during her studies Maria Sofianska developed a love for chamber music. An award at the international Vittorio Guiy competition in Florence prompted her to continue to develop her talent in this area. She collaborated with Isabelle Faust, Tanja Becker-Bender, Peter Buck, Emanuel Pahud and Roberto Sacca, among others.Along with several radio and CD recordings, which document her artistic creativity, Maria Sofianska also took on advisory and editorial work with the renowned American publishing company Alfred Music for a new edition of Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier. Maria Sofianska studied piano at the National Academy of Music in Sofia, where she subsequently held a lecturer position. With the support of a DAAD scholarship, she continued her studies in Stuttgart with Professor Konrad Richter, and she became his assistant in a class for lied interpretation.
