Solo clarinetist Sebastian Manz was born in Hanover in 1986 as the son of the pianists Julia Goldstein and Wolfgang Manz. He received his first clarinet lessons when he was seven before he was accepted as a junior student at the Lübeck Musikhochschule in the class of Sabine Meyer and Reiner Wehle as an eleven-year-old . Over the years, Sebastian Manz has been awarded many important prizes, and is the holder of scholarships from various foundations and societies . He was a member of the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie . He has already appeared in concert as a clarinet soloist with famous German orchestras . In September 2008 at the ARD International Music Competition in Munich, having just turned 22, Manz not only won First Prize in the clarinet category, a prize not awarded for 40 years, he also garnered the highly coveted audience prize as well as other special prizes . This was immediately followed by appearances with the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, the SWR Radio Symphony Orchestra Stuttgart, the German Radio Philharmonic Saarbrücken and many others . As a committed chamber musician Sebastian Manz is high in demand as a recital partner and performs at festivals in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Ludwigsburg, Bad Kissingen, Mainz, and Heidelberg as well as the Rheingau Festival and also performs as a soloist at concert venues in Munich, Vienna, Salzburg and Zurich.

As “Duo Riul,” Sebastian Manz and Martin Klett won First Prize at the 2008 German Music Competition and took part in the 53 rd nationwide series of Young Artists Concerts .
