Jan Brauer

Jan Brauer was born in 1985 in Wiesbaden. After graduating from high school in 2004, he trained as an audio-visual media designer and studied media design at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. In 2014 he completed the postgraduate program in sound studies at the Berlin University of the Arts.

He has been performing with the Trio Brandt Brauer Frick and the ten-member Brandt Brauer Frick Ensemble at international festivals and music venues since 2009. Since then the band has released fi ve LPs as well as numerous singles and remixes.

They have also worked in various project-based collaborations – most recently with the El Sistema orchestra in Caracas in early 2020 – and the opera Gianni was composed for the Deutsche Oper Berlin in 2016.

Brauer lives and works as a freelance musician, composer, and sound designer in Berlin, where he regularly collaborates with a number of new music ensembles. Since 2016 he has also worked as a theater composer, including at the Berliner Ensemble, the Theater HAU Hebbel am Ufer, the Hessian State Theater Wiesbaden, and the Theater
in der Josefstadt in Vienna.
