Verena Louis

The pianist Verena Louis has established herself as a sought-after piano accompanist and is equally at home working in Lied as well as strings repertoire. She was born in Paris and grew up in France, Germany and Portugal.

Verena Louis received formal piano and chamber music training at the Cologne University of Music with Roswitha Gediga, Michael Endres, the Amadeus Quartet and the Alban Berg Quartet. After she herself received several personal awards at competitions, she has been involved as an accompanist at national and international competitions and master classes including the German Music Competition, the “Júlio Cardona” International Competition in Portugal, the Concours International de Genève and the International Violin Competition Leopold Mozart in Augsburg.

For more than twenty years, she was the regular accompanist of Adelina Oprean’s violin class at Basel’s Musikhochschule. After additional teaching assignments as a répétiteur at the Musikakademie Wiesbaden and the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf, she has also been solo répétiteur for strings at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University of Music and Theater in Leipzig
since 2013.

Performances at the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival and Rheingau Music Festival, on chamber music tours throughout Europe, a series of world premieres, CD recordings and her work as a chamber music teacher and accompanist in numerous master courses testify to her artistic versatility.

Verena Louis lives with her family in Leipzig.
