Pianist and conductor Thomas Wise earned undergraduate and graduate performance degrees from The Juilliard School in New York City with Bartók pupil György Sándor as well as pursuing further study in Cologne with Aloys Kontarsky. He also gained valuable insight from Peter Feuchtwanger in London as well as from a master class given by conductor Jorma Panula.

His CD recordings with various labels and for radio broadcasters such as WDR, MDR, BR and Deutschlandradio bear testimony to his artistic accomplishments. After serving in positions in Hamburg and Bonn, since the beginning of the 2018/19 season Thomas Wise has been Head of Music at Theater Basel.

Concert engagements have taken him to venues such as Munich’s Herkulessaal, the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Liederhalle Stuttgart, the Meistersingerhalle in Nuremberg, Bremen’s Glocke Concert Hall, the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, the Kölner Philharmonie, Weill Recital Hall (Carnegie Hall) in New York, the Palau de Música Catalana Barcelona and the Royal Albert Hall in London.
