Alison Browner

Alison Browner, mezzo-soprano was born in Dublin. She read music and English at T.C.D. and also studied violin and voice. She won a DAAD Scholarship to the Musikhochschule Hamburg and continued her vocal studies. Important stations in her career have included the Munich Opera Studio, her studies with Hans Hotter, and her first engagements in Darmstadt and Mannheim.

Since her Covent Garden debut in Rossini’s La Cenerentola, she has appeared in many renowned opera houses, including those in Brussels, Antwerp, Gent, Barcelona, Zürich, Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich, Stuttgart, as well as at the Bayreuth and Salzburg Fes- tivals (with Gardiner).

She has also appeared as a recitalist with her accompanists Breda Zakotnik, Irwin Gage and Andreas Frese. Her concert successes include appearances the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra (Philippe Herreweghe), Concerto Köln (Marcus Creed), Symphony of Harmony and Invention London (Harry Christophers), and Munich Philharmonic (Lothar Zagrosek).
