The Quadriga Bassoon Ensemble was founded in 1998. At that time, all four founding members were studying with Prof. Fritz Finsch at Berlin’s “Hanns Eisler” Musikhochschule while attending high school at the Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach Musikgymnasium in Berlin. In 1999 the quartet competed in Jugend musiziert and was a first prize winner. In addition they won a special prize from the Irino Foundation for the best performance of a contemporary work. Several invitations for concerts followed and have taken the ensemble on tours of countries such as Greece. In 2002 group received an ensemble scholarship from the Villa Musica Foundation in Rhineland-Palatinate. Since 2003 they have been listed as artists at Relais & Chateaux. Despite their young age, the members of the ensemble hold principal positions in some of the most renowned orchestras (Deutsches Symphonie Orchester, Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Tonhalle Orchester Zurich) and perform regularly as soloists and chamber musicians. The ensemble collaborates enthusiastically with contemporary composers such as Georg Katzer and Michael Stöckigt, who have written works especially for the Quadriga Bassoon Ensemble.
