Eddie Mora is the Artistic Director of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Heredia. He has been nominated for the Latin Grammy Award as a composer and conductor on several occasions. Mora is the winner of the “Best Classical Music Album” category at the 2017 Latin Grammy Award, for a CD production conducting the National Symphony Orchestra of Costa Rica.
He is also the winner of the 2018 Carlos Enrique Vargas National Prize in Orchestral Conducting, a coveted award bestowed by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Costa Rica. As a composer, he has been honored with the Aquileo J. Echeverría National Prize of Composition, the ACAM Prize (awarded by the National Association of Composers and Musical Authors of Costa Rica), and the Áncora Music Prize (awarded by Costa Rica’s major newspaper La Nación).
Eddie Mora is a board member of the Association of Latin American Composers of Art Music, and is the founder of the University of Costa Rica’s College of Fine Arts Research Institute, as well as of the Musical Composition Seminar and of the University of Costa Rica Contemporary Music Ensemble. He currently serves as a tenured Professor of Music at the University of Costa Rica School of Music.
