I TEMPI, Chamber Orchestra
Connecting rather than separating! With this founding motto, I TEMPI goes beyond the traditional separation between the Baroque and modern orchestra as it presents dynamic and varied concert programs under the direction of Gevorg Gharabekyan. With the goal of reproducing the composer’s original sound as closely as possible, each work is performed with historically-authentic instruments. When programs include works from different stylistic periods, the members of I TEMPI change instruments during a single concert. In this way, audiences can experience the different sound worlds in direct contrast.
The Chamber Orchestra I TEMPI is also strongly committed to performing works by contemporary composers and forgotten masterpieces. Soloists who have appeared with I TEMPI include Viviane Chassot, Christophe Coin, Thomas Demenga, Ilya Gringolts, Adelina Oprean, Daniel Sepec, Stephan Schmidt, and Bruno Schneider. Their debut CD with GENUIN classics was released in 2016 in cooperation with Radio SRF, presenting a program featuring the serenades of Antonín Dvořák and Edward Elgar as well as Antoine de Lhoyer’s Guitar Concerto with soloist Stephan Schmidt on historical instruments.
