Michael von Schönermark

Michael von Schönermark started taking bassoon lessons at the age of eleven. One year later he was accepted as a young student of Prof. Finsch, and also studied with Prof. Klaus Thunemann from 2000 to 2004. In 2004 he became solo bassoonist of the Konzerthausorchester Berlin at the age of 23. He won the Theodor Rogler Foundation Special Prize at the 2002 ARD Music Competition. In 2003 he was awarded the endowment award of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival. In addition, he was awarded a scholarship by the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes and by Villa Musica. He has performed as a soloist with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin and the Munich Chamber Orchestra. He has been a guest artist at the Schwetzingen Festival, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Davos Festival and MDR Musiksommer.
