Mikhail Mordvinov first gained international recognition with outstanding competition successes in consecutive years, winning the Robert Schumann Competition in Zwickau in 1996 and the Franz-Schubert Competition in Dortmund in 1997. When only six years old, Mordvinov was accepted into Moscow’s renowned Gnessin School of Music, studying with Tatiana Zelikman. He subsequently completed his studies there under Professor Vladimir Tropp and was chosen “Best Student of the Year” in the 1996/97 academic year. He completed additional postgraduate studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover with Professor Bernd Goetzke. Audiences admire the intimacy and vitality of his playing, his passion and refined taste, his virtuoso ability and the maturity of his interpretations. His innate musicality and subtle touch cultivated since his childhood years are based on precise intuition and broad training – and deeply rooted in the old Russian piano tradition .
