Korbinian Altenberger, Violin
Violinist Korbinian Altenberger studied with Charles-André Linale and Donald Weilerstein in Cologne and Boston and has been a prizewinner at many international competitions. He gave his debut at the age of twelve at the Salzburg Festival and since then has regularly performed as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the world. Concert engagements include performing with the Orchestre National, the Auckland Philharmonia, the Münchner Philharmoniker, the Münchner Kammerorchester, the Göttinger Sinfoniker, the symphony orchestras of Saarlänischer Rundfunk and Südwest Rundfunk. He has performed with the Winnipeg Symphony, the Massapequa Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Chamber Orchestra, the Iris Orchestra, and Costa Rica’s National Symphony Orchestra. In recent years he has been invited to play in countries such as Japan, South Africa, Cambodia, the US, New Zealand, Israel, Austria, Italy, France, Czechoslovakia, Slovakia, and Switzerland and he is a regular guest at renowned international festivals. He gained particular musical insight through his collaboration with performers such as Shmuel Ashkenasi, Gerhard Schulz, Leon Fleisher and members of the Guarneri, Juilliard, and Cleveland Quartets. After a position as first concertmaster of WDR Köln Sinfonieorchester since 2011 Korbinian Altenberger has been concertmaster of the second violins in the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks.
