Margit Kern

Margit Kern grew up near Frankfurt am Main. She completed instrumental studies with Hugo Noth in Trossingen, Germany and Matti Rantanen in Helsinki. She won First Prize at the “International Gaudeamus Competition for Interpreters of Contemporary Music.” She has performed as a soloist and chamber musician throughout Europe, among others with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, musikFabrik, Ensemble Modern, and the Oh-Ton Ensemble. She specializes in New Music and has been involved in numerous premiere performances and theme-centered solo recital programs. She works closely with composers such as Charlotte Seither, Samir Odeh-Tamimi and Younghi Pagh-Paan. Margit Kern teaches accordion at the University of the Arts, Bremen.
