Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, José Gallardo is one of the most sought-after chamber musicians of his generation. He began taking piano lessons at the Buenos
Aires Conservatory as a five-year-old and in 1997 obtained a graduate degree in Piano Performance from the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz under Prof. Poldi Mildner. From 1998 to 2008 he was on the Music Department faculty of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, and since the fall of 2008 has served on the faculty of the Leopold Mozart Centre for Music and Music Education at Augsburg University. Artists such as Menahem Pressler, Alfonso Montecino, Karl-Heinz Kämmerling, Sergiu Celibidache, Rosalyn Tureck and Bernard Greenhouse have been influential in his musical development. José Gallardo has already won many national and international
competition awards, including First Prize at the International Piano Competition in Cantú, Como, Italy. He is pursuing a busy career as a concert and chamber music artist in Europe, Asia, Israel, Oceania and South America, sharing the podium with Alberto Lysy, Gidon Kremer, Linus Roth, Barnabás Kelemen, Chen Zimbalista, Julius Berger, Miklós Perényi, Danjulo Ishizaka, and Nicolas Altstaedt. He has performed at concert venues such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Tonhalle in Zurich,
the Musikhalle Hamburg, Kurhaus Wiesbaden, Teatro della Pergola Florence and the Accademia Santa Cecilia di Roma. He is a frequent guest at many festivals, including the Lockenhaus Chamber Music and Verbier Festivals, the Asiago Festival in Italy, the Ludwigsburg Schlossfestspiele, the Schwetzingen, Schleswig-Holstein and Rheingau Music Festivals, and at the Cello Festival Kronberg. Numerous CD recordings
as well as performances for radio and television document his performance career.
