“One of the most subtle pianists of the coming generation,” says Christoph Poppen of Francesco Piemontesi.

Born in Switzerland in 1983, the pianist began to play the piano at the age of four, and is currently studying with Arie Vardi at the Hanover Musikhochschule in Germany. Since his first piano recital in 1994, concert tours have taken him to numerous European countries, Japan, Korea and the United States. He performs at international festivals from a broad repertoire ranging from Bach to contemporary compositions, and has performed at the Berliner Philharmonie, the Konzerthaus in Vienna and Zurich’s Tonhalle. He will be making his Carnegie Hall debut in New York in the fall of 2008 in a solo piano recital. Francesco’s artistic interests are focused in particular on chamber music. He occasionally performs in concert with artists such as Yuri Bashmet, Heinrich Schiff, Maria Kliegel and Anne Queffélec, as well as with members of the Berlin Philharmonic. During the 2005 and 2006 seasons, Francesco also served as Artistic Director of the Chamber Music Festival of Bellinzona, Switzerland. (www.piemontesi.org)
